How your card works

Everything you need to know about funding, using and managing a RWA Cash card, from your first deposit to your daily coffee.

Overview

RWA Cash is a prepaid card you fund with crypto. You deposit ETH, USDG or tokenized stocks on Robinhood Chain; we turn that into a US-dollar balance on a card you can use anywhere cards are accepted. It is prepaid: you can only ever spend what you have loaded.

  • Fund with ETH or USDG from a wallet on Robinhood Chain.
  • Your card is issued instantly as a virtual card and can be added to a phone wallet.
  • Top up whenever you like; freeze the card in one tap; see every purchase in real time.

Getting a card

  1. Connect a wallet on Robinhood Chain.
  2. Choose a card type (see below) and the starting balance you want.
  3. Deposit ETH, USDG or tokenized stocks for the balance plus the issuance fee shown at checkout.
  4. Your card is issued the moment the deposit is confirmed onchain. It appears as pending for a few seconds and then becomes active.

Payment first, then issuance

We only issue a card once your deposit has been confirmed. If issuance fails after a confirmed deposit, the deposit is refunded to your wallet, never the other way round.

Card types

The card types currently available are listed below. This list is read live from our issuing partner, so it may change.

All cards are denominated in US dollars regardless of where they are issued.

Funding & conversion

USDG

USDG is a US-dollar stablecoin, so a USDG deposit maps one-to-one onto your card balance. There is no price movement between deposit and spend.

ETH

An ETH deposit is converted to US dollars at the time the deposit is confirmed, at the rate shown to you before you confirm. Once converted, your balance is in dollars and no longer moves with the price of ETH.

Tokenized stocks & ETFs

Robinhood stock and ETF tokens on Robinhood Chain (for example NVDA, TSLA, SPY) are accepted the same way. The price comes from the onchain market at the moment you pay, with a small margin so the quote still covers the bill if the market moves during confirmation. Only Robinhood's canonical tokens are accepted. Look-alike tokens with the same ticker are not.

Network fees

Deposits are onchain transactions on Robinhood Chain, so a small gas fee is paid in the chain's native token. This is separate from RWA Cash's fees, which are listed on the fees page.

Top-ups

Add funds to an existing card at any time from your dashboard. A top-up is a fresh deposit of ETH, USDG or tokenized stocks, converted the same way as your first one.

  • Minimum top-up: $10.
  • Maximum per top-up: $1,000. Make several top-ups if you need more.
  • Funds are available on the card as soon as the deposit is confirmed onchain, typically within seconds.

Balances between $10.01 and $19.99 aren't possible

A new card starts with exactly $10 and the smallest top-up is $10. So a card can hold $10, or $20 and above, but nothing in between. Checkout will only offer amounts that work.

Spending

Use the card like any other prepaid card: contactless in-store via your phone wallet, or by entering the card number online. Every transaction is authorised against your live balance, so a purchase larger than your balance is declined rather than overdrawn.

  • Card details (full number, expiry, CVV) are shown only when you ask for them in your dashboard.
  • Transaction history updates in real time and shows the merchant, amount and status of every purchase.
  • Purchases in currencies other than USD are converted by the card network; a foreign transaction fee applies (see fees).

Controls

ActionWhat it does
FreezeInstantly declines every new transaction. Your balance stays put.
UnfreezeRe-enables the card. No new card number is needed.
WithdrawMoves unspent balance back off the card.
ClosePermanently closes the card. Withdraw any remaining balance first.

Limits & rules

  • Cards are prepaid; there is no credit, overdraft or interest.
  • Each card belongs to exactly one account and is only visible from that account.
  • Requests that are retried (for example after a lost connection) are safe: a duplicate top-up or issuance is recognised and not charged twice.
  • Availability of card types can change without notice; the list above is always current.

Support
